Nokia is reportedly considering the option of licensing its brand to a new smartphone manufacturer. This move could potentially allow another company to produce devices under the Nokia name, which has a rich history in the mobile industry. The brand has been associated with quality and innovation, and this strategy might help revitalize its presence in the competitive smartphone market.
On the Nokia subreddit, a Nokia Community Manager mentioned that the company is willing to partner with a “large-scale mobile manufacturer.” However, it’s important to note that statements from a social media account manager may not hold significant influence, and Reddit may not be the ideal platform for identifying a smartphone original design manufacturer (ODM).

The decision to license the brand could open doors for collaborations with various manufacturers, enabling them to leverage Nokia’s established reputation while introducing new products. This approach has been seen in the past with other brands, where licensing has led to successful partnerships and product launches (TVs, tablets, phones, etc.).
This comes just before financial reporting. Nokia will publish its Q2 2025 results on Thursday.
As Nokia explores this possibility, it remains to be seen which companies might be interested in such a collaboration and how it could impact the brand’s future in the smartphone landscape.
